Thugs Take Advantage of Mombasa Diwali Fireworks To Rob Casa Blanca Night Club
Most residents of Mombasa know exactly where the Casa Blanca Night Club is. It is situated off Moi Avenue at a part of this long street that sees lots of activity every evening as revelers make their way to this famous club.
Last Sunday two heavily armed robbers raided the Casa Blanca Night Club and got away with over Kshs 300,000 ($4,167). The proprietor of the famous nightclub a Mr Okoth Waudi told the national press a chilling account of the incident where the robbers told him that they had been sent to kill him, but had decided to spare his life.
Interestingly the thugs struck at about 11:30 am when loud fireworks from the adjacent Mombasa Sports Club would have easily masked any loud gunshots, had the robbers forced to fire the weapons.
The robbers seemed to have known the layout of the nightclub well and went straight to the proprietor, ordered him to lie down at gunpoint and then proceeded to ransack the safe after forcing him to produce the keys.
After emptying the safe of cash and mobile phones usually kept there, the two-man gang made their way to their getaway vehicle parked a few meters from the night club and disappeared.
This is the second robbery at Casa Blanca in less than a year.
